Ellsworth Family
I've said it before and I'll say it again, there is something extra wonderful to me in extended family sessions. These photos were a gift for Gigi, and I was so happy to spend the hour capturing sweet moments (and a little dash of chaos) to give her and the rest of the family these memories! With five grandchildren under the age of six, this was one of those sessions where we're all sweating a little afterwards from chasing and playing and entertaining for those adorable smiles, but it was totally worth it! Here's a peek into our time together.

I remember reassuring the adults during our time together that at some point down the road, photos like these with the whole family will be so easy. In the future, the kids will stand where they're supposed to, smile when it's time, and are unlikely to get their clothes muddy. Years like this one - when we need alllll the jelly beans + peekaboo + snuggles when they feel shy - they are fleeting. It may feel like a total circus at times, but they're only this little once, and I promise you'll want the photos when the years have passed.

During a session, I try to always keep my head on a swivel so I can catch the sweet little in-between moments like this one! I still had my zoom lens on from the bridge shot, so I was simultaneously slinging my backpack on and backing up as fast as I could (and trying not to fall into the ditch behind me, ha) while watching this interaction with Evie and her Gigi and GPops unfold. I love her big smile as they swung her, but I think the third photo where she pulled their hands to her cheeks has my heart.
I always do my best to get a great individual shot of each of the little ones, because I love the idea of these portraits hanging side by side on a wall in their grandparents' home!
