Elena's library + greenhouse senior session
Being in the depths of my "bookworm era," I can't tell you just how excited I was to take Elena's senior photos!! She wanted to share her passion for reading in this session, and what better way than to be surrounded by all the books in our local library?
I am a frequent visitor to the Derby Public Library, and at any given time, we likely have a *minimum* of twenty books checked out for the boys and myself. And can we chat about the absolute gem that this place is? It's not just a book haven - though it definitely is that - but it's also been such a source of community to us. I remember in the early days of us living in Kansas, I frequently took the boys to the kids' area in the library (which, by the way, if you have young kids and have not yet brought them to play here, you are MISSING OUT), and one time I had a bag that said Life.Church on it with me to carry our books. The bag sparked a conversation with another mom there, and I kid you not - this mom is one of my closest friends now.
I realize I've gone way off topic here, but a moment needed to be taken to simply thank the team at the Derby Public Library for creating such a warm and inviting atmosphere on top of providing all of the books and other resources. You all are the best!!
I asked Elena to make sure to bring a small stack of her recent favorites so we could take some photos with those specifically, and I now have a few more titles added to my TBR!
After the library, I had asked Elena and her mom if they would be up for going to a spot I'd been dying to take pictures at for awhile. I wanted to give her a little variety in her session and get some greenery in the photos, and with it still being very cold out and all the trees still very bare, I thought hopping over to my favorite greenhouse might be the perfect solution! And oh, it did not disappoint!
Not only was this session surrounded by plants and books - literally two of my most favorite things - but it was an absolute joy working with Elena. My biggest goal was to capture her gentle soul and kind smile, and perhaps a few laughs when I encouraged her to try some of my more ridiculous posing prompts. ;) Congratulations on your upcoming graduation, Elena, and I can't wait to see where life takes you in this next chapter! (.... Book pun definitely intended there. Haha.)
